Director/Senior Manager of Engineering

About the position

Plan and direct all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the organization. Lead the engineering team on various projects, currently focused on the development of Sine Draco’s A321 Passenger to Freighter Conversion Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering team both internally and externally (outside resources)
• Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget
• Develop and maintain staffing plans
• Recruit, assign, direct, and evaluate employees
• Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization
• Assist Supply Chain Management with suppliers and contractors
• Assist Customer Services as required
• Assist in the integration of the required maintenance and modification activity
• Assist in Marketing and Sales Campaigns
• Support and/or attend trade conferences or symposiums
• Review other potential conversion opportunities and projects
• Adhere to overall defined project schedule

• Direct, evaluate, and confirm product design and changes
• Define modification configuration
• Develop technical specifications and statement of work
• Data compilation and design/development recommendations
• Study fleet configurations and assess applicability for future conversion
• Establish plan and provide engineering support for in-service and production issues

• Direct certification aspects of engineering STC projects under multiple regulatory agencies
• Plan and manage continued airworthiness support of STC products
• Manage and provide DER / UM support for STC and post STC activities

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or equivalent
• 15 years related experience
• Previous STC and/or cargo aircraft conversion experience preferred
• Knowledge of regulatory FAA Part 25 / EASA CS 25 requirements and airworthiness process
• Familiarity with 3D Computer Aided Drafting/Design (CATIA V5 preferred)
• Knowledge of OEM Maintenance, Operational, and Repair Manuals
• Office 365
